Petty-Evans led LIU (8-10, 4-3 NEC) with a new career-high of 29 points, besting the mark of 27 she set just two days prior against Bryant. The New Jersey native made a new career-high 11 shots on 21 attempts and connected on half of her three-pointers (5-for-10) and both her free throws. Her performance also marked the first time in her career that she has surpassed the 20-point plateau in back-to-back games and the first time a Blackbird has done so since former great Shanovia Dove closed her career with three straight games over 20 points from February 20-27, 2017. After entering the fourth quarter trailing 43-41 and falling behind 53-45 with 6:03 remaining in the game, LIU (8-10, 4-3 NEC) closed out the contest on a 16-1 run to earn its fifth victory in seven games this season decided by ten points or less. Senior Stylz Sanders kicked off a 7-0 run with a jumper at the 4:57 mark and Petty-Evans added five points to bring the Blackbirds to within one point, 53-52, with 3:28 left. CCSU (2-16, 2-5 NEC) hit 1-of-2 free throws with 2:11 to go (54-52) but LIU would tie the score at 54-54 after redshirt junior Drew Winter connected with Waithe on the last of her team-high five assists with 1:44 on the clock. On the Blackbirds' next possession, Waithe - the NEC leader in offensive rebounds at 3.5 per game - would corral a Sanders miss and score the eventual game-winner with 57 seconds remaining in the game. Winter, Petty-Evans, and Sanders combined to hit LIU's final five free throws to seal the victory. OTHER NOTES Waithe finished the night with 13 points and was one rebound away from a double-double for a second straight game. Sanders scored eight points against the Blue Devils, matching her season high at UMBC on November 17, 2017. LIU dished out nine assists and set a new season-low with seven turnovers, moving to 4-0 this year when recording more assists than turnovers in the process.
