BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team closed out the 2018 season with a 4-0 loss to Fairfield on Thursday afternoon.
A quick flurry by the Stags to start the game gave junior goalkeeper
Molly Jannell a pair of saves. The Blackbirds nearly got on the board on a redirect shot by junior
Madi Cook but were denied by Zoe Rosen in the 11th minute. The score would remain tied through the half, as neither team was able to break through. Fairfield broke the tie in the 41
st minute on a backhanded goal before scoring three more times to take the 4-0 victory.

Eva van Wakeren recorded shots for the Blackbirds. Junior
Olivia Dennis tallied a first half defensive save to give LIU nine defensive saves on the season. Jannell finished the game with nine saves.
LIU ends the 2018 season 2-15 overall, 0-5 in MAAC play.
