BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The LIU Field Hockey team fell to MAAC foe, Rider 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. The Blackbirds cut the deficit to one early in the second half but the MAAC's leading offense was able to add two more goals to pick up the win at LIU Field.
 
Rider jumped to an early lead scoring two goals in a minute and a half apart for the 2-0 advantage at 13:50. The Blackbirds responded a minute later as sophomore 
Jenna Chrabolowski buried the chip in shot in front of the cage off the feed from Junior 
Madi Cook. The Broncs added a third score off the penalty corner in the 34
th minute to take the 3-1 lead into the break.
 
LIU pushed the tempo to open the second half drawing a penalty corner eight minutes into the half. Redshirt sophomore 
Casey Carrigan received the push and drove towards the middle of the slot. She dished the ball out to freshman 
Eva van Wakeren on the right side to bury the goal to bring the score to 3-2. Rider would push the lead back to two on a backhanded goal in the 58
th minute before a rebound score sealed the game in the 63
rd minute.
 
van Wakeren led the Blackbirds with four shots in the game, netting her eighth goal of the season. Chrabolowski recorded her third goal of the season and Cook tallied her second assist. Junior 
Haley Ballard recorded her third defensive save of the year with a first-half stop. Junior goalkeeper 
Molly Jannell registered nine saves in 70 minutes of action.
