BROOKLYN, N.Y.-- The LIU Brooklyn opens up a four-game road swing on Tuesday night against Fairfield at Webster Bank Arena. The 5:00 p.m. tip-off will be aired nationally on ESPN+.

  • The Blackbirds fell to Army West Point in the home opener at the Steinberg Center on Friday night, 57-42. LIU tied the game up early in the second quarter but it was the Black Knights who would come away with the victory. 
  • Freshman Brandy Thomas led LIU with 14 points and 12 rebounds along with three blocks against Army West Point. Jeydah Johnson contributed 10 points for the Blackbirds. Sophomore Ella Vaatanen added eight points and three rebounds and classmate Tia Montagne recorded three assists at the point.Thomas garnered the first Northeast Conference
  • Rookie of The Week honors of the season after averaging 12.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game for the Blackbirds agaisnt Empire State competition. She was one of two NEC players to record two double-doubles in the opening week of the season. Her rebounding average ranks second in the NEC after two games. 
  • Fairfield is the second of three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponents on the schedule for Blackbirds this season. Under the direction of 12th year head coach, Joe Frager the Stags were selected fifth in the Preseason MAAC Coaches Poll.
  • The team enters Tuesday's matchup 1-0 after a 58-40 victory over Richmond. Preseason All-MAAC Third Team selection, Khadidiatou Diouf led Fairfield with 17 points and nine rebounds in the win the Spiders. The Stags also featured double-digit points from Sam Lewis (11) and Katie Armstrong (10) in the win. 
  • LIU has matched up against Fairfield just two times in its 52-season history with a 1-1 record. The last meeting between both teams was back in 1997.
