BETHLEHEM, Pa.— The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team dropped its second to last non-conference matchup of the season, falling to Lehigh 72-38 at Stabler Arena on Thursday evening.

The Mountain Hawks opened the game with nine point run to control the fast tempo early. LIU would collect themselves slowly, outscoring Lehigh 9-8 over the remaining five minutes of the period with sophomore Jeydah Johnson leading the way with four points to take a 17-9 deficit into the quarter break.

The Blackbirds combated a 7-0 run from the Mountain Hawks to open the second with back-to-back three-pointers from freshman Ryan Weise and sophomore Tia Montagne to bring the score to 24-15 with 4:32 to go in the second. But the home team remained calm out of the break ending the quarter on a 12-0 run to take a 36-15 halftime lead.

Lehigh controlled the tempo in the third quarter with a 14-4 stretch through the halfway point in the period to assert control for the remainder of the frame to take a 57-22 favor into the final period. The Blackbirds would show some late glimpses with a 12-7 closing stretch to end the game with Weise netting nine of her career high 14 points for LIU in that stretch.
