BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- Despite putting together a strong rally in the second half, the LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team was defeated by the Robert Morris Colonials Saturday afternoon at the Steinberg Wellness Center.
Senior
DeAngelique Waithe posted her ninth double-double of the season with 12 points and ten rebounds while freshman
Jeydah Johnson added 12 points and a team-high three assists.
LIU trailed most of the first half but made their move to as the second half commenced. The Blackbirds outscored RMU 16-9 while forcing five turnovers in the third to trim the Colonials' lead to one, 34-33.
Robert Morris scored the first three points of the fourth but LIU rattled off six unanswered points in two minutes to take its first lead (39-37) since the opening minute of the game at the 7:58 mark.
Unfortunately, the Blackbird offense would stall in the waning moments of the game. LIU was unable to score for more than seven minutes and were on the opposite end of a game-ending 18-5 Robert Morris surge.
