BALTIMORE, Md. – The LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team fell to University of Maryland-Baltimore County on the road Saturday afternoon, 16-3. The Blackbirds move to 0-2 on the season with the defeat.
 
The Retrievers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on the Blackbirds. LIU would get on the board nine minutes into the game, when sophomore Bianca Santucci scored off a pass from freshman Bridget Neiley to make it 3-1. UMBC would add four more goals before LIU would score again. This time, it was Neiley who would score an unassisted goal to make it 7-2 with five minutes left in the first half.
 
The Retrievers would continue to build the lead, scoring nine unanswered goals to put the game out of reach for LIU. Senior Taylor O'Connor added one more on the board for the Blackbirds in the final 90 seconds, when she scored her first goal of the year on a free position shot to make it 16-3.
 
Up next, the Blackbirds have a two week break, before they return to Brooklyn to host Radford University, Saturday, March 3 at 1 p.m.
