BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team looks to sweep the first weekend in February when the Blackbirds head to Staten Island to face Wagner on Monday evening.

QUICK HITS
  • LIU defeated Mount St. Mary's in dramatic fashion Saturday afternoon, topping the Mount 61-59 on a game-winning shot from freshman Jeydah Johnson. Johnson scored a game-high 20 points off the bench in her action since missing four games due to injury. Senior DeAngelique Waithe contributed 15 points for her ninth double-digit scoring outing in the last ten games and senior Stylz Sanders logged her first-ever double-double with a season-best 11 points and a career-high ten rebounds.
  • LIU improved to 4-0 on the season when it either matches the rebound total of its opponent or exceeds it. The Blackbirds outrebounded the Mountaineers on Saturday, 42-37.
  • Sanders' scoring effort marked the first time she scored ten or more points in a game since she netted 11 against Central Connecticut on February 15, 2016.
  • Sophomore Seneca Richards started her fifth straight game and had three steals against the Mount on Saturday, besting her previous career high of two from LIU's game vs. Wagner on January 23, 2017.
  • Petty-Evans (16.1 ppg), freshman Jeydah Johnson (13.9 ppg), senior DeAngelique Waithe (8.8 rpg) and redshirt junior Drew Winter (5.4 apg) continue to pace the Blackbirds, with LIU sporting a top-5 conference performer in every category (Petty-Evans: 3rd in scoring; Waithe: 4th in rebounds; Winter: 1st in assists).
  • Wagner broke an eight-game losing streak on February 3 with a 50-47 home win over St. Francis Brooklyn. LIU defeated the Seahawks 74-69 in Brooklyn in the team's last meeting on January 13.
  • Wagner is led by Sierra Clark (18.5 ppg, 9.8 rpg) and Nakylia Carter (2.4 apg).
