NOTES FROM THE NEST
- The Blackbirds scored first in the game, when senior Sierra O'Connor had a free position goal just two and a half minutes into the game.
- Amanda Masullo would score back-to-back goals early in the first half to give the Blackbirds a 3-1 advantage.
- SFU came back to tie it up, but down a man, a goal by Cosgrave with 10 minutes left in the half gave the Blackbirds a 4-3 lead. Freshman Rachel Masullo had the assist for LIU.
- SFU would win the next draw, and score a quick man-up goal that tied the game up at four. From there, the home team scored seven unanswered goals over the next nine minutes, and took an 11-4 lead into the halftime break.
- SFU would widen the lead to 14-4 before LIU would score again. That happened seven minutes into the second half, when Amanda Masullo found sister Rachel Masullo, who scored to make it 14-5.
- Freshman Elise Person and senior Candice Mosal both had unassisted goals over the next 10 minutes.
- The Blackbirds would score two goals in the finals two minutes of play. Freshman Bridget Neiley scored off a pass from senior Christina Zolezzi, and Cosgrave would score with just 20 seconds left, off a pass from Amanda Masullo.
