DAVIDSON, N.C.— The LIU Brooklyn dropped the finale of its two-game road trip in North Carolina, falling to Davidson 5-2 on Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats (2-2) outshot the Blackbirds (0-4) 11-2 in the opening period, finding the back of the net twice off the stick of Kristin Kisa. Junior Molly Jannell registered five saves in the first half for LIU.
The LIU offense got going in the second half as junior Madi Cook scored the unassisted goal in the 51st minute to bring the score to 2-1. Davidson responded shortly after with a three-goal run in an eight minute span to take the 5-1 lead. First-year forward Eva van Wakeren broke the Wildcats run with her goal in the 68th minute for her third score of the weekend.
Both Cook and van Wakeren tallied goals in back-to-back games for the Blackbirds. Redshirt-sophomore Casey Carrigan and freshman Riley Lambert added shots for LIU while Jannell finished with nine saves in 70 minutes in goal.
