BURLINGTON, VT. – The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team fell to the University of Vermont Sunday evening on the road, 3-0. The Blackbirds held the Catamounts scoreless until the end of the first half, but a quick spurt of goals gave the home team the advantage for the rest of the game.
Vermont scored their first goal of the game with less than a minute left in the first half on a penalty kick, taking the 1-0 lead into the break. The home team would widen the gap in the second half, scoring two quick goals to go up, 3-0. In the 63
rd and 66
th minute, two feeds into the box would result in goals, and the Catamounts were on top. Vermont, who only took three shots in the first half, upped their offense output to eight shots in the second half, increasing pressure on LIU's defense.
The Blackbirds struggled offensively, with just one corner kick in the contest, and only four shots in 90 minutes of action.
