BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team ended its three-game homestand with a 9-1 loss to La Salle on Sunday afternoon.
The Blackbirds (2-9) opened the scoring in the 17
th minute as freshman 
Eva van Wakeren recorded her seventh goal of the season. Sophomore 
Jenna Chrabolowski tallied the assist with a pass across the zone for van Wakeren to chip in front of the goal. The Explorers (5-6) answered with goal in the 20
th and 26
th minute to take a 2-1 lead into the break.  La Salle carried its momentum into the second half with seven scores in the final period to take the non-conference matchup.
 
Junior 
Madi Cook led the Blackbirds with two shots while classmate 
Gillian Vallaster and van Wakeren both added a shot. Junior 
Molly Jannell recorded seven saves in 53 minutes of action. Junior 
Haley Ballard recorded her second defensive save of the season and senior 
Amy Reid tallied her first defensive save of the year.
