BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team opens up the final weekend of its four-game homestand against rival, Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday afternoon. The Blackbirds and Knights square off at 2:00 p.m. at the Steinberg Center in part of a doubleheader with the men's team.
NOTES FROM THE NEST
- LIU dropped its Monday night matchup to Robert Morris, 89-37 last time out. RMU's defense held the Blackbirds to a 20.9% clip from the floor.Freshman Kiara Bell tied her career-high with 16 points to go along with six rebounds. Freshman Ryan Weise finished with eight points and four rebounds. Sophomore Daisha Davis added four points, three rebounds and two blocks for the Blackbirds.
- Fairleigh Dickinson comes into Saturday's matchup 4-11 overall, 1-3 in NEC play. The Knights take care of the basketball, ranking second in the NEC with 15.4 turnovers per contest. FDU has performed well on the defensive side of the ball, ranking second in the conference with 3.9 blocks per game.
- Lauren Francillon is the team's leading scorer with 10.6 points per game on the season. She also paces FDU with 6.2 rebounds per game. Natalie Zamora currently leads the NEC with 2.3 steals per game on the season.
- In the annual series dating back to 1977, the Knights hold the all-time 42-31 over the Blackbirds. The visiting team earned the win in last years head to head as LIU grabbed a 62-53 victory in Teaneck last February.
