EMMITSBURG. Md.— The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team hits the road for the first time in 19 days, opening up a three-game road swing with a trip out to Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, January 26 for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off from Knott Arena.
NOTES FROM THE NEST
- LIU fell to rival St. Francis Brooklyn, 79-67 in the 26th annual Battle of Brooklyn on Monday at the Steinberg Center. The Blackbirds shot a season-best 50% from the floor but were unable to stop a strong second half from the visiting Terriers.
- The Blackbirds had four scorers in double figures on Monday, led by sophomore Jeydah Johnson's 19 points. Freshman Ryan Weise added 13 points and sophomore Tia Montagne and freshman Brandy Thomas contributed 12 points each. Thomas and sophomore Ella Vaatanen tallied a team-high six rebounds each.
- The Mountaineers hold the all-time series lead at 33-23. LIU swept the season series last year including a 61-59 win at Knott Arena on a game winning three-pointer from Jeydah Johnson in the final seconds back on February 3, 2018.
- Mount comes into Saturday's contest 8-9, 2-4 in Northeast Conference play. The Mountaineers hold a 4-2 record at Knott Arena this season. As a team, MSM ranks second in the NEC with a 41.2% field goal percentage.
- Juliette Lawless paces the offensive attack with 18.2 points per game, ranking third among league leaders. She also leads the league in field goal percentage with a 53.2% clip on the season. Three-time NEC Rookie of the Week, Michaela Harrison ranks second on the team with 11.3 points per game. Rebecca Lee is the team's leading rebounder with 8.6 boards per game.
