NEW BRITAIN, Conn.— The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team continues its road swing to close out January with a trip to Central Connecticut State for a Monday night matchup at Detrick Gymnasium.

NOTES FROM THE NEST
  • LIU fell to Mount St. Mary's 61-45, last time out at Knott Arena. The Blackbirds would cut the lead down to single digits with a strong third quarter but the Mount continued to capitalize off of LIU's turnovers to take the matchup.
  • Sophomore Jeydah Johnson led the Blackbirds with 14 points and six rebounds on the day. Freshman Ryan Weise posted double-figures for the second straight game, finishing with 11 points. Sophomore Tia Montagne registered three assists and three steals for LIU.
  • CCSU enters the game, 4-13 on the year and 1-6 in Northeast Conference play. The Blue Devils rank second in the conference in opposing field goal percentage, holding opponents to 39.3% clip on the year.
  • Kiana Patterson paces the Blue Devils offense with 16.5 points per game that rank top-four among NEC leaders. She also ranks third in the conference with 2.44 made three-point field goals per game. Defensively, Ashley Berube leads the team and ranks third in the league with 1.71 blocked shots per game. Her 6.1 rebounds per game also lead the team.
  • The Blackbirds hold a 21-16 lead in the all-time series over the Blue Devils. LIU has a three-game winning streak in the series, dating back to January 30, 2017.

The Blackbirds reach the halfway point in NEC play with a trip to Staten Island next Saturday, February 2 to take on Wagner in part of a doubleheader with the men's team at Grymes Hill.
