BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team closes out its three-game road swing at Wagner with a Saturday afternoon matinee at the Spiro Sports Center.

NOTES FROM THE NEST
  • LIU's comeback bid fell just short at CCSU, falling 63-57 on Monday night. The Blackbirds erased a seven point deficit to tie the game halfway through the fourth quarter but the Blue Devils converted 10-12 free throw attempts to hold on to the victory.
  • The Blackbirds had three scorers in double figures, led by sophomore Jeydah Johnson's 16 points. Freshman Brandy Thomas added 15 points and eight rebounds and sophomore Tia Montagne recorded 12 points. Freshman Ryan Weise finished with eight points and career-high eight rebounds.
  • Wagner enters the halfway point in league play with a 5-13 record overall and 3-5 mark in conference play. The Seahawks rank second in the NEC in field goal percentage (41.2%) and assists per game with 13.5. On the defensive end, Wagner ranks second in turnovers forced with a 17.11 per game average.
  • Taylah Simmons leads the Wagner offense with a 13.6 points per game average on the season. Emilija Krista Grava also averages double figures with 11.1 points per game while gathering a team-best 5.8 rebounds per contest.
  • LIU holds the slight edge in the all-time series at 44-43. The Blackbirds have won six of the last seven meetings. Both teams split their meetings last year as the home team claimed the win in the matchups.
