BROOKLYN, N.Y.— Brandy Thomas of the LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for her strong play this past weekend. Thomas earned her second straight weekly honor and fifth overall for this season.
The rookie led all NEC rookies in scoring this past week, averaging a double-double with 15.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She opened the week with a team-high 14 points and eight rebounds against borough rival St. Francis Brooklyn. Thomas followed that up with 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds in the win over Sacred Heart on Monday. She currently ranks second in the NEC with 11 double-doubles on the season.
LIU makes the trip out to Western Pennsylvania this weekend first with a meeting at Saint Francis U on Saturday, February 23 at 4:00 p.m. in part of a doubleheader with the men's team.
