BOCA RATON, Fla. – The LIU Brooklyn women's tennis team fell on the road Thursday afternoon, dropping a 4-0 decision to Florida Atlantic University. The Owls battled the Blackbirds in windy conditions, taking the doubles point and three singles matches to move LIU to 5-7 in dual matches this season.
In doubles, FAU had a win at No. 1 doubles, as Jemi Aguilar and Natalia Boltinskaya beat
Anna Grigoryan and
Ana Leonte, 6-2. The doubles point was clinched in the No. 3 spot, where
Malin Leysen and
Jennifer Gogova fell to their Owl counterparts, 6-3. The match being contended at No. 2 doubles was suspended when the point was clinched, with FAU leading, 5-2.
The Owls clinched the victory with three straight set singles wins, in the Nos. 1, 3 and 4 spots, to take the match win over the Blackbirds.
Up next, the Blackbirds return home to Brooklyn to take on Villanova, Friday, March 22 at 12 p.m.
