TEANECK, N.J.— The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team concludes its 2018-19 season on Thursday, March 7 at Fairleigh Dickinson. Tip-off for the regular season finale is slated for 7 p.m. at the Rothman Center.
NOTES FROM THE NEST
- LIU dropped its home finale at the Steinberg Center on Monday night, falling to Bryant 69-54. The Blackbirds overcame a slow opening quarter with a stellar second quarter shooting 57.1% from the floor, but a strong third period allowed the Bulldogs to pull away.
- Sophomore Tia Montagne led the Blackbirds with 17 points to go along with five assists. Freshman Brandy Thomas recorded 12 points and game-high 14 rebounds for her third straight double-double and 14th of her rookie campaign.
- Monday's matchup is the 75th meeting all-time between both teams. In the series dating back all the way to1977, the Knights hold the all-time 43-31 over the Blackbirds. FDU earned a 69-52 win over LIU back on January 19 at the Steinberg Center. The Blackbirds had three scorers finish in double figures, led by Montagne's 15 points.
- FDU comes into the final game of the regular season, 7-21 overall and 4-13 in NEC play. The Knights are vying for the final playoff spot on Thursday evening. FDU ranks second in the NEC in free throw percentage at 73.3% on the year and second in blocks per game with a 4.0 average.
- Madelynn Comly and Lauren Francillon both lead the Knights offense with 9.4 points per game. Francillon is also the team's leading rebounder with 6.0 boards per game. Defensively, Natalie Zamora paces the NEC circuit with 2.29 steals per game.
