TEANECK, N.J. – The LIU Brooklyn women's tennis team kept their Northeast Conference record unblemished Tuesday afternoon, beating Fairleigh Dickinson, 6-1 to move to 3-0 in league matches. It was LIU's fourth-straight dual match win.
 
The Blackbirds would win two of the three doubles matches to take an early lead against the Knights. In the No. 1 doubles spot, the duo of Anna Grigoryan and Ana Leonte beat their FDU opponents, 6-2 to get LIU off on the right foot. And Malin Leysen and Jennifer Gogova clinched the point with their 6-1 defeat in the No. 3 doubles spot. FDU would take a win at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, but LIU clinched the point, and led 1-0 heading into singles.
 
There, three matches were won in straight sets that gave the Blackbirds the win. Leysen was the first to win, as she shut out Anamaria Vladescu in the No. 4 singles spot, 6-0, 6-0 to put LIU up, 2-0. Senior Clemence Krug also had a quick win, beating Carolin Menzen in the No. 6 spot, 6-1, 6-2.
 
Junior Jessica Brzozowska would clinch the win for the Blackbirds with her straight set win in the No. 2 spot. There, she beat Aleksandra Vorozheikina, 7-5, 6-2, for LIU's fourth and match-clinching point.
 
LIU's other two wins came at Nos. 1 and 5 singles. Grigoryan beat Marta Ruszczynka at No. 1, rallying to win in a tiebreaker after dropping the first set, 6-7(3), 6-2, 10-6. And Leonte had a straight set win at No. 5, where she beat Smriti Singh, 7-6(3), 7-5.
 
FDU's lone win came at No. 3 singles, where Patricia Eftenoiu beat Sasha Bollweg in a battle, 1-6, 6-4, 7-6(4).
 
Up next, the Blackbirds wrap up the regular season with back-to-back matches on the road against NEC opponents. LIU will take on Wagner, Friday, April 12, before capping the year playing at Sacred Heart, Saturday, April 13.
