2019 Men's Soccer Schedule
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Long Island University men's soccer head coach Michael Mordocco announced the Shark's 2019 season schedule Wednesday afternoon. The schedule features five home matches, nine matches against teams that had a winning record in 2018 and a pair of exhibitions at the LIU Soccer Park.
"I'm thrilled to release our 2019 schedule," said Mordocco. "My goal in this year's non-conference schedule was to challenge our student athletes with the best college soccer experience and to build a foundation for the future of our program, in an effort to prepare our guys for the Northeast Conference (NEC) schedule."
The Sharks open their season with a pair of exhibitions at the LIU Soccer Park against Saint John's University on Sunday, August 18 and the New York Tech on Saturday, August 24.
The first contest of the regular season will take place in Norfolk, Virginia against Old Dominion on Friday, August 30 and the Sharks will follow on Sunday, September 31 when they take on Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
LIU's home opener occurs Saturday, September 7 against Saint Joseph's University, and then the Sharks begin a four-game stretch of road contests on September 10 against La Salle in Philadelphia, Pa. LIU continues the road trip at UMBC, Saturday, September 14 in Baltimore, Maryland, before heading to New Rochelle, New York, to face Iona on Saturday, September 21. The Sharks wrap up their road swing against Columbia on Monday, September 23 in New York, New York.
NEC play begins against Saint Francis University on Friday, September 27 at the LIU Soccer Park but the Sharks will briefly return to non-conference action on Tuesday, October 1, taking on local rival Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.
On Sunday, October 6 the Sharks return to NEC play against Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., before returning home to host Merrimack College on Friday, October 11.
Four out of the Sharks' final six regular season matches occur on the road, beginning with a contest on Friday, October 18 against Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J. On Friday, October 25 the Sharks make the trip to New Britain, Conn., to take on Central Connecticut State University and follow with a match two days later at the LIU Soccer Park against Bryant University on Sunday, October 27.
Competition in the month of November begins on Friday, November 1 against Robert Morris University in Loretto, Pennsylvania, then it continues on Sunday, November 3 against Mount Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Pennsylvania. LIU wraps up regular season play against Saint Francis College Brooklyn on Sunday, November 10 at the LIU Soccer Park.
