Bernie Hernando joined the men’s soccer coaching staff at LIU Brooklyn in 2014, and has served as a volunteer assistant coach since that season. Prior to his arrival at LIU, Hernando was an assistant coach at Wilmington College.

At Wilmington, Hernando helped the Quakers to an 11-8-1 record in the 2012 season, along with an appearance in the OAC Tournament.

Hernando completed his undergraduate education at LIU Brooklyn. He was part of a squad that won the Northeast Conference Tournament and earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament.

Hernando has coached and trained soccer players since 2001. Prior to Wilmington, he coached at his alma mater, St. Benedict's Prep. In 2011, the  program recorded a final record of 24-0 and added its seventh national championship as the No. 1 team in the nation by both ESPN and NSCAA.

He received his bachelor's degree from LIU Brooklyn in 2001 in business marketing and management, and earned his master's degree in education from Wilmington in 2014.
