Following a very successful tenure as a head coach on the high school level, Ralph Auriantal joined the staff at LIU Brooklyn as an assistant men’s basketball coach in 2017-18. Auriantal is no stranger to the Northeast Conference and downtown Brooklyn, having played for rival St. Francis College for two seasons from 1997-1999.

Most recently, Auriantal was a physical education instructor and head varsity boy's basketball coach at The Master’s School in West Simsbury, Connecticut.  Auriantal guided his team to three consecutive Connecticut Independent School Athletic Conference (CISAC) championships and qualified for the New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC) tournament once. Several of his players have gone on to play Division I basketball.

Auriantal was born in Montreal, Canada, and was recruited to play for Jere Quinn at St. Thomas More Prep in Montville, Connecticut. He was named a McDonald’s All American Honorable Mention his senior year.

Auriantal attended Mount Ida College in Newtown, Mass., and played basketball for the Mustangs for two seasons. He ended his two years at Mount Ida with an impressive 868 career points and earned an associate degree in Individualized Studies in 1996.  In the two years he competed with the men’s basketball program his team turned in an impressive 53-8 overall record. He was recently inducted into the Mount Ida College Hall of Fame in 2017.

As a Mustang, Auriantal was honored as a two time first team All-New England player along with a pre-season All-American selection his final season. Upon graduation from Mount Ida College, Auriantal received a bachelor of science in Physical Education at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1999.

Auriantal went onto complete his MA in Clinical Nutrition at the New York Institute of Technology while an assistant coach with the men’s basketball team.
