Allison Hanley begins her sixth season as head coach at LIU Brooklyn in 2018. Hanley came to LIU following tenures at Hofstra University and at the University of Richmond as an assistant coach.
Over the last few seasons, Hanley has built a roster filled with youthful talent. In 2014, freshman Jenn Peters became the first Blackbird to win Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year honors, and was one of two first-year players to be named to the NEC All-Rookie Team (Danita Stroup).
Peters, Stroup and fellow frosh Mary McQueen ranked 1-2-3 on the team in scoring while sophomore Alexis Maldonado ranked in the NEC's top three in saves per match.
Before LIU Brooklyn, Hanley served as an assistant coach at Hofstra for three seasons, helping the Pride to the championship game of the 2010 Colonial Athletic Association Tournament in her first year with the team. Hofstra finished 2010 with 12 wins and was ranked No. 16 in the nation following the regular season.
While with the Pride, Hanley's responsibilities included budgets, recruiting, scouting and on-field coaching, while directing the midfield and defense. She developed six All-CAA players and seven All-Rookie Team selections during her time in Hempstead, N.Y., and mentored a pair of United States National Team selections: Developmental Team selection Corrine Gandolfi and current U.S. National Team defender Katie Hertsch.
Prior to Hofstra, the Baltimore, Md. native was an assistant coach for Richmond during the 2008 and 2009 seasons and helped the Spiders compile an 11-3 Atlantic-10 Conference record during that time. Hanley assisted in all aspects of the program, including game preparation, scouting reports and on-field coaching, and undertook head coaching responsibilities during the 2009 season, leading the Spiders to the A-10 Tournament.
She also monitored the academic progress of the student-athletes, and the team compiled one of the highest grade point averages in Richmond lacrosse history. The recruiting coordinator for the Spiders, Hanley also helped to manage budgets and with conditioning and practice plans for the squad.
Prior to her stint at Richmond, Hanley was an accounting associate with Clifton Gunderson LLP from August 2006 to June 2007.
A four-year member and two-year captain of the Richmond women's lacrosse team from 2002 to 2006, Hanley totaled 32 goals and 63 assists during her stellar career. When her playing career concluded, she ranked second all-time in assists and her 26 assists in 2006 and 25 in 2004 rank as the second and third-highest single season total in school history.
A member of the student-athlete leadership council and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority during her undergraduate career, Hanley graduated from Richmond in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in accounting with a minor in spanish.
