Men Finish Eighth, Women 10th at Metropolitan Championships

– The Long Island University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Metropolitan Championships on Friday held at Van Cortland Park in Bronx, N.Y. The men finished eighth and were led by freshman Rogers Kipruto who turned in a time of 26:30 for 11th place. Senior Selina Munoz paced the 10th-place women's squad with a time of 19:38 for 38th overall.
 
Following Kipruto was senior Jason Lakritz who crossed the line in 26:52 for 19th place. Senior Dan Renahan finished the eight-kilometer course in 27:39 for a 41st place finish. Freshman William Werner debuted as a Blackbird with a time of 31:42.
 
On the women's side, sophomore Monica Akello turned in a time of 20:39 to stand in 70th place. Senior Robin Renahan completed the course in 20:54. Junior Desiree Conley's time of 21:57 was good for 103rd overall. Rounding out the Blackbirds was sophomore Emily Rosario who turned in a time of 22:47.
