Piscataway, N.J. - The Long Island women's golf team finished in 11th place in a field of 20 teams at the R.U. Women's Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Blackbirds were led by freshman Lizzie Stephens who finished in a tie for 17th at the 36-hole event.
Stephens carded a 79-85 as the number one golfer for Long Island. Junior Anna Palsson finished in a tie for 50th, earning scores of 87-84. Sophomore Linnea Jonsson wasn't too far behind, grabbing a pair of 88s and finishing tied for 64th.
Junior Julia Rappa followed, carding scores of 92-86, finishing tied for 70th. Sophomore Victoria Gustafsson rounded out the squad, finishing tied for 82nd with scores of 89-92.
Fairleigh Dickinson grabbed the top team spot, finishing with scores of 339-303, while Sacred Heart's Gabriella Riber captured the individual title.
The women close out their fall slate on Oct. 25-26 at the Sacred Heart Fall Classic in Milford, Conn.
