Northeast Conference Release/Results
New Britain, Conn. - The Long Island University men's and women's cross country teams closed out their 2010 season at the Northeast Conference Championships at Stanley Quarter Park on Saturday. Senior Desiree Conley led the women's team, while fellow senior Julius Mutekanga led the men.
Conley crossed the line in 52nd place, racing a 19:44. She was followed by senior Robin Renahan, who came in 65th place with a time of 20:58. Junior Emily Rosario was directly behind Renahan, earning a 66th place finish and a time of 21:08. Junior Tiffany Parker finished the race in 72nd, racing to a time of 22:28. Seniors Ashley Veney and Christine Jones rounded out the women's team, finishing in 78th and 79th, running a 26:43 and 26:46, respectively.
Mutekanga logged a 28:41, good enough for a 67th place finish. Senior Vincent Gangemi crossed the line in 76th place with a time of 31:14, followed by sophomore Chris Welch who finished in 77th with a time of 31:52. Sophomore Nelson Mora earned a 78th place finish, running a 31:53, while senior Samuel Egadu logged a 32:15, putting him in 79th place.
Both teams placed 12th in the team standings. This marks the end of the season for the teams, who pick up the indoor track season starting on Dec. 5 at the Seton Hall Invitational.
