Suffern, N.Y. - Three players delivered rounds in the 70s for the Long Island University women's golf team on Saturday in the final round of the Roar-EE Invitational to propel the Blackbirds to 13th place overall. Junior Andrea Staudacher finished 15th overall in the 75-player field to lead Long Island as she carded a 78 in round two to follow up a 77 on day one.
Sophomore Anna Palsson delivered an 80 on day one and then improved upon that showing to move 10 spots on the leaderboard. A 78 on Saturday sent Palsson from 35th to 25th overall with a 158 two-day total. Senior Natalie Desjardins also finished 25th overall as she improved four stroeks on her day one total. Carding an 81 on friday, Desjardins fired a 77 on day two to move from 45th to 25th into a tie with Palsson.
Day two saw both freshman Linnea Jonsson and sophomore Julia Rappa improve on their first-round scores. Jonsson recorded an 85 to shave nine strokes off of day one and Rappa posted an 87 for an eight-stroke improvement.
