Farmville, Va. – Using three rounds in the 70s, sophomore Anna Palsson of the Long Island University women's golf team finished in 12th-place at the Longwood Tina Barrett Invitational in Farmville, Va. on Tuesday. Long Island put together its lowest round of the three-round event on Tuesday with a 324 as it placed eighth overall.
With scores of 78-77-79, Palsson was a consistent presence for the Blackbirds all tournament. For the 54-holes, Palsson played level as she was fourth in the 40-player field with 34 pars. Junior Andrea Staudacher finished two strokes behind Palsson by firing rounds of 79-78-79 to grab a share of 14th place. Staudacher was especially efficient on the par threes, finishing a tournament-best -3 on the 12 holes.
Opening the tournament with back-to-back 89s on Monday, freshman Linnea Jonsson improved on day two when she carded an 86.
Long Island takes the course again at the Roar-EE Invitational in Suffern, N.Y. on April 16-17.
