Women's Golf Takes 6th at Towson Invite

Phoenix, Md. – After finishing day one of the Towson Invitational tied for 4th place, freshman Lizzie Stephens placed 13th overall, leading the Long Island University women's golf team to a sixth place team finish.

Stephens finished the tournament at +17 after shooting rounds of 79-82 on the par 72 course. Junior Julia Rappa came in 22nd place, carding an 86-82, and tying her personal best score on the second round.

Freshman Victoria Gustafsson was just behind Rappa tied for 23rd place, earning scores of 81-88 in her first outing as a Blackbird. Junior Anna Palsson finished tied for 29th, carding an 85-87. Sophomore Linnea Jonsson shot an 87-86, finishing tied for 31st.

Northeast Conference rival Fairleigh Dickinson finished in the top spot in the team competition.

Long Island plays next on Sept. 18-19 at the Dartmouth Invitational in Hanover, N.H.
