Women's Golf Picked Third in NEC Preseason Poll

Somerset, N.J. – The Northeast Conference has released its annual women's golf preseason poll, and the Long Island Blackbirds have been picked third. Fairleigh Dickinson was picked first, receiving ten of the possible first place votes, and Sacred Heart was chosen second, getting one vote.

The women's golf team is led by junior Anna Palsson, who knocked in a team-best round of 73 at the Dartmouth Invitational during the fall slate, where she finished tenth in the event. Freshman Lizzie Stephens impressed in her first fall season as a Blackbird, where she finished fourth at the Towson Women's Invitational. She also logged a 17th place finish at the Rutgers Invitational. Stephens carded season-best rounds of 79 at both the Towson and Rutgers Invitational.

Long Island kicks off its spring schedule on March 6-8 at the Lonnie Barton Invitational in Savannah, Ga. The Northeast Conference Championships will take place on April 21-23 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
