Palsson Earns All-NEC First Team Honors

Brooklyn, N.Y. – Long Island University junior Anna Palsson, the 2011 Northeast Conference women's golf individual champion, has been named to the All-NEC First Team. The Stockholm, Sweden native also earned NEC Golfer of the Week honors three times during the season.
 
Palsson came storming back on day two of the conference championship, breaking a three-way tie for first place to come out on top by three strokes. Before that, Palsson earned her first number one spot of her LIU career at the MU Hawk Invitational, carding rounds of 80-77. At the Lonnie Barton Invitational, Palsson once against rallied, jumping from 17th to second after carding a tournament and season-low 72 on day two.
 
Fairleigh Dickinson's Michele Holzwarth was named Golfer of the Year for the second year in a row, joining teammates Ester Park and Lisa Warrilow on the All-NEC First Team. Sacred Heart's Gabriella Riber rounded out the slate, while Mariana Juaristi (Fairleigh Dickinson), Jenna Rinker (Robert Morris), Elizabeth Wenger (Robert Morris), Carly Bergin (Scared Heart) and Ann Colligan (Saint Francis (Pa.)) made up the All-NEC Second Team. Wagner coach Chris Fourman was named Coach of the Year.
