NEC Performance Lists
Brooklyn, N.Y. – After a season that saw milestones in major events like the Colonial Relays, Texas Relays and Penn Relays, the men's and women's outdoor track and field teams look to take the Northeast Conference championship crown away from last year's winner, Monmouth. Both the men's and women's teams were runners up at the 2010 Championships. This year's meet will take place on Saturday and Sunday at Kessler Field in West Long Branch, N.J.
The NEC Indoor Track and Field reigning champions, the women's team currently has 13 performances that sit in the top five on the NEC performance list of best times this season. Last year's Most Valuable Performer and Most Outstanding Performer, junior
Jessie Gaines holds four spots, all of which are number one. She raced to a 24.38 and a conference-best in the 400-meter dash at the Puerto Rico Spring Classic, and a 13.64 in the 100-meter hurdles at the Colonial Relays to claim the top spot. In the field events, Gaines is first in the long and triple jumps, leaping to a 5.78 meter mark at the Puerto Rico Spring Classic, and a mark of 12.49 meters at the Penn Relays, respectively.
Sophomore
Amber Mitchell holds the number two spot in the 100-meter dash, after clocking in a 12.19 at the Texas Relays. Junior
Jazmin Waller owns the number three spot in the 200-meter dash after racing to a 24.51 at the Morgan State Legacy Meet. Gaines, Waller, and junior
Torrie Saunders hold the potential for a sweep in the 100-meter hurdles, with Waller in the number two spot (14.08) and Saunders in third (14.5).
Waller, Saunders, Mitchell and Gaines make up a pair of strong relays for the Blackbirds, clocking in with a 46.13 in the 4x100-meter relay for the number one spot and 3:50.3 in the 4x400-meter relay for fourth.
In the field events, Waller holds a pair of jumping spots, sitting third in the high jump after clearing a bar of 1.65 meters at the Colonial Relays. Waller holds the second place spot in the long jump after leaping to a mark of 5.71 meters at the Puerto Rico Spring Classic. Senior
Danay Spencer is second in the triple jump, leaping to a mark of 12.33 meters at the Penn Relays.
The men's team currently has eight records that sit in the top five on the NEC leaderboard this season. Senior
Samuel Egadu posted a performance good enough for 5
th in the conference in the 200-meter dash (21.86) at the Puerto Rico Spring Classic earlier in the season. Egadu, who was First Team All-Conference in the 400-meter dash last season, raced to a conference-best mark of 48.13 in the event at the Morgan State Legacy Meet.

Branden Arrington recorded the NEC's fastest 4x400-meter relay of the season, clocking in at 3:12.29.
In the field events, Richards took the top spot after last weekend's performance at the Penn Relays, leaping to a mark of 7.33 meters. Junior
Amire Solomon sits third on the list, recording a jump of 7.13 meters at the Metropolitan Championships. Sophomore
Wilmot Stubblefield also saw success at the Penn Relays, leaping to a mark of 14.29 meters in the triple jump, good enough for second on the NEC performance list.
