Phoenix, Md. - The Long Island University women's golf team kicked off its 2011-12 slate on Sunday and Monday at the Towson Women's Invitational in Pheonix, Md. Freshman Alice Boothroyd impressed in her first collegiate outing, leading the Blackbirds at the event.

Boothroyd carded rounds of 82-86 to secure herself a tie for 35th place. Senior Anna Palsson knocked in rounds of 83-90 to land in 46th place, while classmate Julia Rappa rounded out the squad, coming in a tie for 51st.

Long Island is back in action Sept. 17-18 at the Yale Intercollegiate in New Haven, Conn.
