Brooklyn, N.Y. - A total of 32 LIU Brooklyn student-athletes were named Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for the 2011-12 school year. The group will be honored at a dinner ceremony on Monday, April 16 in Luntey Commons on the campus of LIU Brooklyn.
This national award recognizes students who are strong academically, and who distinguish themselves as leaders by their extra-curricular activities and community service. The minimum cumulative average for consideration is 3.00 and selection is limited to junior, senior and graduate level students. Students for inclusion are selected by a committee of deans, directors, faculty and other administrators who are familiar with the student body.
LIU student-athletes among the inductees represented nine Blackbirds athletics teams. Those honored were from women's basketball (MaryAnn Abrams, Tamika Guz and Krystal Wells), bowling (Essanna Gray, Mariah Hatfield and Jhoanna Santaromana), women's golf (Anna Palsson and Julia Rappa), women's lacrosse (Jacqueline Simonian), men's soccer (Nik Conklin, John Connolly, Steve Jakubowski, Jakeem Johnson, Elliot Kane, Rob Schroback and Nathan Stockie), women's soccer (Jennifer Bannon, Lauryn Bretches, Ariana Calderon, Jeanette Dolmetsch, Brittany Giesen, Nicole Labo, Sarah Laughlin, Kayleigh Morgan, Jessica Roelant and Amanda Wisotzke), softball (Sterling Hoham and Lauren Morizi), tennis (Taysha Blessington and Aleksandra Pavlovic) and volleyball (Ashley Rice and Jessica Rice).
