SUFFERN, N.Y. - Following a wire-to-wire win at the Monmouth Invitational, the LIU Brooklyn women's golf team will be in search of its third consecutive spring-season victory at the one-day, 36-hole Roar-EE Invitational on Friday. The tournament, hosted by Columbia, will feature 10 teams that will compete at Spook Rock Golf Course in Rockland County.
LIU is coming off a narrow one-stroke victory at the Hawk Invite over Siena. Freshman Marisol Doglioli earned her first collegiate victory at the event by three strokes over Siena's Victoria Nguyen. Sophomore Brianna Maynard closed six shots off the pace and finished fourth, and classmate Cristina Felip tied for sixth at 166.
The win marked the second straight for the Blackbirds, who put together a dominant effort at the Lonnie Barton Invitational en route to a 28-stroke triumph.
In addition to the Blackbirds and host Lions, Dartmouth, Penn, Boston University, Central Connecticut, Hofstra, Quinnipiac, Siena and Wagner will take part in the event. Penn is the only team that boasts a team title over the seven years of the event, with its championship coming in the 2011 season.
Columbia boasts the last three individual champions, and current junior Michelle Piyapattra has won each of the last two years.
