STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's track and field team ruled the 100 meters at the Wagner Quad Meet, which wrapped up on Wednesday.
The Blackbirds dominated the 100 meters. Senior Jamal Roberts led LIU with his time of 10.90. Sophomore Alistair McLean clocked in at 11.0 for second. Senior Dwayne Lane grabbed third in 11.20, fourth-place finisher sophomore Andi Augustin crossed the finish line in 11.3 and freshman Girbaud Pink tied for fifth with his time of 11.40.
Senior Rogers Kipruto claimed the top spot in the 400 meters, racing to a time of 50.90. His time was .9 seconds ahead of the second place finisher from Wagner. Sophomore Elijah Taylor secured the third spot with his time of 52.60. Fellow teammate Jonathan Pineiro recorded a race time of 1:02.10 to round out the Blackbirds' presence.
In the shot put, graduate student Nickolei Mahlung topped in fourth for his final attempt of 9.54. Sophomore Mikhail Williamson grabbed the fifth spot with his throw of 9.22. Junior Kervin Morgan placed sixth with a mark of 9.16. Junior Steve Buscema added his throw of 7.75 and sophomore Brendon Rodney threw a 7.22.
In the long jump, senior Wilmot Stubblefield placed fifth with his mark of 4.58.
Track and Field returns to action at the Morgan State Invitational hosted by Morgan State in Baltimore, Md. The two-day event kicks off Friday, April 19.
