Thursday's Results
GREENSBORO, N.C. – LIU Brooklyn track and field freshman Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme qualified for the quarterfinals of the 400-meter hurdles on Friday, May 24, as the Blackbirds wrapped up the first day of the three-day NCAA East Regionals on Thursday, held on the campus of North Carolina A&T.
Day One
Petit-Homme completed the 400-meter hurdles with a preliminary time of 51.90, which was good enough for 15th out of 48 competitors. The time, which was over half a second better than the personal-best time of 52.43 he set at the Northeast Conference meet, qualifies him to compete in the quarterfinals on Friday.
The top three finishers in each of the three quarterfinal heats and the next best three times will advance to the NCAA Championship Meet in Eugene, Ore.
Northeast Conference Outdoor Championship Most Valuable Performer Brian Richards concluded his outstanding four-year career with a 32nd-place finish in the long jump competition. Richards' top leap was 6.97m on his third attempt.
LIU Brooklyn continues the meet on Friday, as sophomore Brendon Rodney competes in the first round of the men's 200-meter dash and freshman Kyaira Wright-Harmon competing in the women's high jump.
