Second Round Results
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - A quartet of LIU Brooklyn women's golfers registered rounds of 75 or better, and the Blackbirds set a new school record as a team by firing a 296 on the second day of the Yale Invitational.
LIU eclipsed the program's previous best single-day score of 298 set in the third and final round of the 2012 Northeast Conference Tournament, and currently stand in sixth place at the ultra-competitive 17-team tournament.
Junior Brianna Maynard posted the top round by a Blackbird on Saturday, putting together a two-over par 73 to jump six spots and into a tie for 17th. Maynard's classmate Cristina Felip remained in the top 10 individually and is in a tie for ninth after shooting a 74. Overall, Felip is six shots off the lead held by Elisabeth Bernabe of Yale.
Sophomore Marisol Doglioli shaved four strokes off her first-round score and is tied for 27th at 152 following a second-round 74. Junior Alice Boothroyd was the fourth and final LIU Brooklyn player to shoot 75 or better, improving by six strokes from her total on Friday at 75.
Victoria Fagan shot 81 - a one-stroke improvement from Friday - and is tied for 63rd while Cristina Reynoso trimmed four shots off her opening-round scorecard and is in 81st overall.
Fifteenth-ranked Yale shot its second consecutive round of 292 and holds a five-shot lead over Xavier heading into the third and final round of play on Sunday, Sept. 22.
