NEW YORK, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn men's and women's track and field teams concluded weekend competition at the NYU Saturday Night Shootout, held at the Armory.
Freshman Adam Walker-Khan continued to make an immediate impact for the Blackbirds, winning the long jump on Saturday. His mark of 6.97m put him in front of 29 competitors in the Division I category.
Andi Augustin also performed well for the men, finishing fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.81, bettering his time by .01.
Other competitors for the Blackbirds included Darius Neely, who finished 13th in the 60-meter dash for a new personal-best 7.06. Stephen Castiglione was 14th in the shot put with a throw of a 13.62m, while teammate Steve Buscema was 16th at 12.47m.
Kyaira Wright-Harmon also added another win to her to her resume, tying for first place in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.70m.
Ja'Mesha Richard once again finished near the top in the 60-meter dash, placing fourth after running to a time of 7.73. Richard posted her second fourth place of the evening in the long jump with a leap 5.39.
In the 400-meter dash, Katrina Anderson was eighth in a packed field of 39, with her time of 58.60, while Niteesa Brooks was eight in the shot put with a throw of 11.72m.
Bryanna Williams was 11th in the triple jump with a mark of 10.82m, while Wright-Harmon finished just behind her teammate in 12th at 10.75m.
LIU Brooklyn competes again next weekend, when the team travels to Boston for the three-day Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University from Jan. 23-25.
