BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn senior Brianna Maynard was named the Northeast Conference Women's Golfer of the Month, it was announced by the league Wednesday.
Maynard averaged a team-low 77.7 and did not shoot one round over 80 in the month of October. She posted top-15 finishes at each of the final three tournaments of the fall season. Her best performance came as LIU Brooklyn captured the team title at the Rutgers Invitational in Piscataway, N.J. in the middle of October. Maynard carded rounds of 76 and 72 for a two-round 148, good for fourth place overall. She also helped the Blackbirds edge out the tournament host Scarlet Knights for first place in the team standings.
Maynard opened the month by posting a ninth-place showing at the St. John's Invitational. Shooting a 157 (77-80), she was a key contributor to the Blackbirds' third-place team finish at the Saint Andrew's Golf Club in Greenburgh, N.Y. In the team's final tournament of the fall. Maynard's three-round 239 score (80-79-80) was the lowest of any Blackbird at the Lady Blue Hens Invitational. She placed 15th overall.
It was the second time this season a Blackbird earned the award, as senior Cristina Felip was the NEC Golfer of the Month for September.
