FAIRFAX, Va. – The LIU Brooklyn track teams took part in the 22-team George Mason Spring Invitational over the weekend in Fairfax, Va. The men placed fourth as a team, while the women were 15th.
On the men's side, Brendon Rodney was second in the 100-meter dash at 10.46. Teammate Dannish Walker-Khan just missed finals, finishing 11th in preliminaries.
In the 200-meter dash, Alistair McLean was sixth in 21.53, while Dannish Walker-Khan was ninth in 21.69. Tyquan Dukes was 18th at 21.93. Mclean also placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles at 53.03, while Adam Walker-Kahn was 14th in 54.60.
Adam Walker-Khan was third in the long jump, with his leap of 7.09m. Amir Armstrong turned in a second-place finish in the triple jump at 14.55m.
Next in the 400-meter dash, Mica-Jonathtan Petit-Homme finished seventh overall in 47.95, while Andi Augustin was 22nd.
The Blackbirds won the 4x400 meter relay, as Rodney, Petit-Homme, Augustin and Darius Neely finished in 3:13.35, nearly two seconds ahead of the field.
Sophomore Ja'Mesha Richard started the day for the women, placing 13th in the 100-meter dash in 12.02. Teammate Bryanna Williams was 29th in 12.36. Richard also competed in the long jump, placing sixth overall with a mark of 5.57m.
In the 400-meter dash, Shakia Williams was 31st, while in the 100-meter hurdles, Camille Thomas was 15th in 14.56.
Alea Stevens had the best individual finish of the day for the women in the track events, finishing 11th in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.14.
The Blackbirds also had success in both relays. First in the 4x100, the team of Richard, Bryanna Williams, Brittany McLain and Shakia Williams was fourth in 47.16. In the 4x400, Shanice Grant, Anise Cuffee, Maria Luzon and Josephine Watson were fifth in 3:51.30.
