DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Sophomore Marisol Doglioli moved into the top spot and the LIU Brooklyn women's golf team remained in first place after the second round of the Northeast Conference Championships at the LGPA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Blackbirds shot a 303 during the second round for a two-day total of 602, and are two strokes of Saint Francis U. They lead current third place squad Fairleigh Dickinson by 33 strokes. Rounding out the field are Robert Morris, Central Connecticut, Sacred Heart, Wagner and St. Francis Brooklyn.
Doglioli moved into first place after carding a one-over 73 for a two-day score of 144, and is ahead of the field by four strokes. She birded two holes, including No. 18 to close out the second round. She was also three-under on par-5 scoring and even on par-4.
Junior Brianna Maynard is now in fifth with a two-day score of 150 after carding an 80. Maynard's biggest highlight of the day came at the par-3 sixth hole, as she fired a hole-in-one for the only eagle of the tournament by any player so far.
Sophomore Victoria Fagan had an excellent day on the course, improving five strokes from round one to a card a two-over 74 with two birdies. She now stands in eighth place outright with a score of 153 after starting out in 11th place.
Junior Cristina Felip moved up 13 spots and is currently tied for 14th place, knocking seven strokes off of her first round score to finish the second with a four-over 76, with a total of 159. She also birdied two holes.
Juniorr Alice Boothroyd finished the second day with an 83 on the afternoon, totaling 162 for the two rounds. She is currently in 21st place.
Saint Francis' Mallory Cortis and Robert Morris' Haley Morell are tied for second with 148, while the Red Flash's Ann Colligan is fourth at 149.
The NEC Champion will be crowned tomorrow after the third and final round. Tee times for the Blackbirds begin at 9:05 a.m.
