NEW YORK, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's and women's track and field teams competed in the local Gotham Cup at the Armory on Friday.
Senior Brendon Rodney, junior Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme and senior Alistair McLean each posted a top-10 finish in competitive events. Rodney placed fourth in a field of 98 in the 400-meter dash in a time of 48.63, while Petit-Homme and McLean were sixth and seventh in the 500-meter run with times of 1:04.10 and 1:04.17, respectively.
Junior Kyle Bennett was 19th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.57, while senior Mikhail Williamson was 20th. The Blackbirds relay team of Elijah Taylor, Jonathan Pineiro, Airrin Davis and Daniel Gonzalez ran to a fourth-place finish in 10:27.40.
In the women's 500-meter run, Stephanie Aidoo was was 17th in the 500-meter dash in 1:17.28, while Josephine Watson was 20th in 1:17.39. Senior Katrina Anderson also recorded a top-20 finish in the mile in 5:15.58.
Both 4x400 relay teams also finished in the top-10. Aidoo, Watson, Nichole Candelaria and Elizabeth Adesanya were second in 3:47.97, while the second LIU squad was sixth out of 34th.
The Blackbirds compete at the Armory again this Friday, Jan. 23 at the NYU Metro Team Challenge.
