BOSTON, Mass.- The LIU Brooklyn men's and women's track and field times had another successful weekend at the Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University this past weekend.
The majority of women's events took place on Friday. Gabriella Ade-Onojobi started things off for the Blackbirds with a 17th place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.09. In the 60-meter dash, Bryanna Williams enjoyed a fifth place finish in 7.70, the top individual finish of the day for the women.
Josephine Watson also posted a top-10 finish, coming in ninth in 400-meter dash in 55.86, a personal best for her in the 2014-15 season.
The 4x400 relay team of Elizabeth Adesanya, Stephanie Aidoo, Nichole Candelaria and Josephine Watson continued to perform well, placing second to Virginia in the finals in a time of 3:42.99. Their time, the second fastest in LIU Brooklyn history, was just off the program record of 3:42.34
The men competed on Saturday. Senior Brendon Rodney was third overall in the 60-meter dash in 6.81, and was the top collegiate finisher in a field of 109. Tyquan Dukes was just behind Rodney in ninth in 6.94.
The Blackbirds had two athletes in the top-five of the 400-meter dash, as Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme was fourth in 47.76. Alistair McLean was 0.01 seconds behind in fifth, as both athletes ran to their top times this season.
In his second event of the day, the 200-meter dash, Rodney dominated the field, running to the top spot in 20.78, tying his program record set last season. The second place finisher came in at 21.19. Rodney's time was the third fastest run in the country this year.
Petit-Homme, McLean, Rodney and Andi Augustin won the 4x400 meter relay in 3:11.08 to cap off the meet for LIU Brooklyn. Their time currently ranks them 18th in the nation.
Several Blackbirds also competed at the Armory Invitational on Saturday, where several program records were broken. Christina Abiola's mark of 13.17m in the shot put crushed the previous LIU record of 12.89, set back in 2002. In the high jump, Kyaira Wright-Harmon tied the school record set by Jazmin Waller in 2012 with a mark of 1.73m.
The Blackbirds return to New York City next week, competing at the Metropolitan Championships at the Armory on Feb. 6.
