NEW YORK, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's and women's track and field teams recorded a number of season-best times at the Metropolitan Championships at the Armory on Friday.
Stephanie Aidoo jumped to the top of the Northeast Conference leaderboard with her performance in the 60-meter dash. Aidoo ran a 7.68, her best time this season, to place third at the event. Teammate Bryanna Williams also appeared in the finals, placing sixth with a time of 7.74. Josephine Watson was ninth in prelims with a season-best time of 7.76.
Aidoo then became the NEC leader in the 200-meter dash, finishing third with a time of 24.90, her best this season.
In the 500-meter dash, Cermone Davis ran to a personal-best 1:16.74 to place seventh overall, and move her to fifth on the NEC performance list. Katrina Anderson also ran a season-best of 2:15.31 in the 800-meter run, putting her in third on the conference leaderboard. She placed fourth overall.
Gabriella Ade-Onojobi was another Blackbird with a season-best time at the meet. She placed third in the 60-meter hurdles in 6.92, a personal and NEC best this season. Ade-Onojobi was then part of the fourth-place 4x400 relay along with Alea Stevens, Bryanna Williams and Brittany McClain.
Kyaira Wright-Harmon leapt to a finish place finish in the high jump, with a season-best 1.75m, which also ties her for first on the NEC performance list. She followed that up with another season-best mark in the long jump at 5.54 meters, good for fifth place. In the shot put, Christina Abiola was third with a throw of 12.58m.
For the men, Alistair McLean started things off with a sixth-place finish in the finals of the 60-meter dash in 7.11.
Brendon Rodney ran a personal-best in the 400-meter dash in 47.76, winning the event. He is now tied with teammate Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme on the NEC leaderboard, and has the top NEC times in the 60, 200, and 400-meter dashes this season. Petit-Homme placed third in the 500-meter dash on Friday, in 1:04.67, which stands second on the league list.
Airrin Davis and Elijah Taylor finished back-to-back in the 800-meter run, in ninth and 10th place, respectively. Taylor's time of 1:58.39 was his best this season.
Mikhail Williamson was fourth in 8.38 in the 60-meter hurdles, a personal best, while Petit-Homme was ninth and Paul Lyon was 10th. The Blackbirds were also fourth in the 4x400 relay.
Kemar Lewis tied his personal best indoor mark in the high jump, winning the event at 2:04m and putting himself in second place on the NEC leaderboard. Vinh Le was third in the triple jump with a personal best of 14.49m. LIU Brooklyn now has the top three individual performers according to jump distances this season in the triple jump - Le (3rd), Adam Walker-Khan (2nd - 14.83m) and Amir Armostrong (1st - 14.91m).
