WEST POINT, N.Y. – An LIU Brooklyn women's tennis team depleted by injury fell in its final non-conference match Saturday, March 28, to Army, 5-2. The Blackbirds forfeited one doubles match and two singles matches en route to the loss.
The Blackbirds had strong performances from senior
Sanne Louwers and sophomore
Marine Dans, who won both their doubles match and the top two singles matches. In doubles, the duo combined to beat Carolyn Pitman and Julian Mok, 8-5. In the No.2 doubles match,
Nancy Zonneveld and Juweira Hussain fell to Elle Taylor and Nancy Porter, 8-2. LIU's forfeit at No.3 doubles clinched the doubles point in favor of the Black Knights.
In singles, Louwers beat Eva Sung at No.1, 7-5, 6-3. Dans also had a win in the No.2 spot, beating Taylor, 6-2, 6-1. Zonneveld retired at No.5 singles after dropping the first set to Porter, 6-4, and Jussain fell to Allyson Hayley at No.6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
