First Round Results
NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. - The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team is fourth of 16 after the first round of the Til Duty Is Done Invitational, hosted by the University of Connecticut.
The Blackbirds combined for a 309 on day one, and are only two strokes out of second place. Hartford leads the field with 295, followed by UMass Lowell with 307, Bryant with 308, while Rhode Island is in fifth.
Freshman Kyle Maihi leads the Blackbirds once again after the first round, carding a three over 75 on the afternoon. He is currently tied for eighth. Maihi was under two on par-five holes.
Junior Stewart Gray is one stroke behind Maihi, and tied for 13th, parring nine holes on the day, while sophomore George Williams is tied for 21st with a first-round score of 77.
Senior Rhys Jones shot an 81 ti sit in a tie for 51st after round one, while sophomore Jake Spearpoint carded an 86. Sophomore Rodrigo Munoz, playing as an individual, shot an 82 and is tied for 55th. Jones parred 10 holes to lead the Blackbirds, while Spearpoint recorded one birdie.
The second and final round begins tomorrow, while the Blackbirds teeing off at 10:40 a.m.
