Nebraska remains at No. 1, followed by Stephen F. Austin, Fairleigh Dickinson, Arkanas State and Sam Houston State to round out the top five. LIU finished ahead of Northeast Conference squads St. Brooklyn and Kutztown in the poll.
The Blackbirds finished the season with a 58-46 record, and earned a trip the NEC Tournament after finishing 11-10 in conference play.
A major highlight came in February, at the Stephen F. Austin Jacks Invitational. Entering the final day of the tournament, LIU Brooklyn was third, but defeated three top-10 teams, including then and now No. 1 Nebraska, to win the team title.
Several Blackbirds earned postseason awards, including senior Brittany Hart and freshman Kristina Genova. Hart was named to the All-NEC First Team and earned an All-American Honorable Mention, while Kristina Genova claimed a spot on the NEC All-Rookie Team.
