Rodney Breaks 200 Record at Florida Relays

GAINSVILLE, Fla. - Senior Brendon Rodney broke his own program record as the LIU Brooklyn track and field teams completed competition at the Florida Relays on Saturday.

Rodney clocked in at 20.27, breaking his previous mark of 20.41 set in 2014. He tied for second overall in the event, on the heels of a 12th place finish on Friday in the 100-meter dash. Rodney's time of 10.37 was his best of the season.

Also competing individually for the Blackbirds was  Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme. The junior came in 12th in 51.20, more than a second better than his previous time, and the top mark in the Northeast Conference.

In the relays, LlU's best finish was in the 4x200, with a eighth place in 1:24.83. The Blackbirds were 15th in the 4x100 and 30th in the 4x400.

The LlU Brooklyn women also competed in the 4x400 relay, placing 20th in 3:46.71.

Up next, the Blackbirds compete at the Hampton Invitational on April 10-11.
